Jon Stewart Roasts Trump’s Attempts to Dismiss Epstein Files: ‘Not That Many People on Video Dancing With Jeffrey Epstein’
Jon Stewart laid into President Donald Trump’s repeated attempts to dismiss the “Epstein Files” fallout, joking that there aren’t a whole lot of people on video “dancing” with the late billionaire and convicted predator.
On The Weekly Show on Thursday, Stewart mocked Trump calling the “Epstein Files” a “hoax” pushed by Democrats. Trump has lashed out at his own MAGA supporters over their dissatisfaction with a Department of Justice/FBI memo on the Epstein case.
“The whole thing is so abjectly ridiculous. Look, we talked about it on The Daily Show last night, Occam’s razor. There’s not that many people who are on video dancing with Jeffrey Epstein and with his arm around him and on the plane as the president of the United States. So the idea that, you know, I understand what he’s doing, he’s doing the whole, like, it’s just like Hunter’s laptop. And you’re like, okay,” Stewart said.
The “dancing” refers to a resurfaced NBC News video from Mar-a-Lago in 1992 showing Trump speaking with Epstein and dancing next to him at one point.
The whole scandal, he added, is “fucking ridiculous.”
MAGA supporters have called for more Epstein files to be released, specifically calling for any documents that would show high profile clients of Epstein’s who took part in his decades of alleged abuse. Jeffrey Epstein died of an apparent suicide while being charged with sex trafficking in 2019. Attorney General Pam Bondi made reference to an Epstein list sitting on her desk in February.
Stewart blasted Trump for dismissing Epstein as a “hoax” while continuing to push unproven claims of widespread fraud behind his loss in the 2020 presidential election.
“The idea he’s like, why are we still talking about that? Anyway, about the 2020 election. That was stolen!” Stewart said.
The Daily Show host joked longtime Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell is likely wondering what she’s currently doing in jail. She’s serving 20 years for sex trafficking.
Maxwell is at the center of a new Wall Street Journal report which includes a letter that Trump reportedly wrote Epstein in 2003 for his 50th birthday. The note includes a doodle of a naked woman and the concluding line, “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.” The letter is reportedly from an album put together by Maxwell.
The president has denied ever writing the note and promised to sue The Wall Street Journal. Stewart recorded his episode before the latest report on Trump and Epstein.
“This is like, it’s the opposite of a nothing burger, but you know, this is… just like fucking prosecute the people that are, that are prosecutable, and let’s be done with this,” Stewart said.
