Jon Stewart Shames Trump Voters Suddenly Breaking with President on Iran: ‘It So Frustrates Me’

Jon Stewart questioned MAGA voters just now breaking with President Donald Trump over the Iran war and other issues, arguing Trump has always been the same “movie trailer president.”

On The Weekly Show on Wednesday, Stewart expressed his frustration with some new critics of Trump on the right while speaking with his producers at the end of the episode.

Stewart argued that timelines and goals seeming to shift around Iran has led more Trump supporters to break with him and question the president’s motives and strategies, but the comedian believes he’s the same exact man he was a decade ago when he jumped into politics.

He said:

The thing that I get most frustrated with is I think that what is happening with Trump right now is we’re all point to, well, he got convinced or his mental acuity, this is who he’s been from the f**king get-go. Like, when people say, well, I’m upset with him now and I regret my vote because he lied. He lied the minute he came down the escalator through “it’s the largest inauguration that’s ever been seen in history” — there is nothing fundamentally different about his decision-making process or about the manner in which his ADD [attention deficit disorder] pushes him from lurching from one endeavor to another.

Stewart referred to Trump as a “movie star president” ready to move on from Iran out of boredom.

“He doesn’t have the stamina to sit through the whole movie. He’s just the trailers and right now the Iran war, the trailer’s done, now what do I do?” the comedian said.

The president has earned backlash from some of his own supporters on recent issues, like the release of the Epstein files and the strikes against Iran, with critics arguing Trump had long campaigned against new wars in the Middle East.

“It so frustrates me that all these people on the right are like, well this, boy, this really pushed me over the edge,” Stewart said. “I’m like, this is the same f**king thing we’ve been dealing with for 12 years.”
