Fox’s Sean Hannity surprised Stephen A. Smith when he turned out to be the very first caller on Smith’s new talk show on SiriusXM.
This week, Smith debuted Straight Shooter with Stephen A. — a new radio show primarily focused on politics. The show adds to Smith’s already-packed calendar that includes daily appearances on ESPN’s First Take, The Stephen A. Smith Show, and a variety of cable TV hits.
As is customary on Smith’s shows, Straight Shooter will also include a segment for listeners to call in and ask Smith questions. For the debut segment, Smith first brought on a man identified as Sean from Florida.
As soon as he spoke, however, the voice was unmistakable.
“How many Seans do you know in Florida, for crying out loud?” Hannity said as soon as Smith answered the call. “Good grief! What do you think of Sean in Florida?”
Smith was in disbelief:
SMITH: Oh my lord. Sean Hannity? Oh my lord.
HANNITY: This is your debut show! My buddy, my pal, my friend, rockstar that you are, multimedia superstar — Stephen A on the POTUS channel! Now, does that mean we’re gonna go back to this debate? “Oh, is Stephen A. running for president again?” God help us!
SMITH: I mean, the country could use me! The country could use me, Sean! You know what? I’d make a monthly visit with you, so you shouldn’t be running from that! I’d make a monthly visit with you if I was the president, so you should be happy about that!
HANNITY: Monthly? It should be weekly! I would negotiate weekly!
Hannity went on to congratulate Smith on the premiere of his new show and wished him luck before they ended the call.
