JUST IN: NBA Will Reportedly Resume Playoffs After Players Go On Strike Wednesday

Milwaukee Bucks Boycott NBA Playoff Game to Protest Jacob Blake Shooting

NBA players will reportedly return to the court after three games were postponed Wednesday after a players’ strike following the Jacob Blake shooting in Wisconsin.

ESPN reports that Thursday’s three playoff games will be postponed, but “a resumption of the season could come as soon as Friday, but there is expected to be a return to the play by the weekend according to sources.”

The Milwaukee Bucks went on strike ahead their NBA playoff game against the Orlando Magic in protest of police shootings of African Americans — prompting the Magic and then the rest of the league to join them. This was followed by other sports-related walkouts and statements, and games in other sports Wednesday were cancelled in recognition of the NBA’s activism.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, “Players held a meeting at 11 a.m. ET. There will be another meeting Thursday with two players from each team.”
