LSU Star Angel Reese Details Year of Harassment She Endured in Tearful Presser Following Loss to Iowa: ‘I Haven’t Had Peace Since Then’

LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese revealed on Monday how much she’s had to endure since winning the national championship last year.
Reese — then a sophomore — was under immense scrutiny when she taunted Iowa guard Caitlin Clark in the championship. Barstool’s Dave Portnoy called Reese a “classless piece of shit” for the move, while Clark encouraged Reese’s competitive edge. What followed was a nationwide debate on the incident, with some claiming race played a major part in it.
Since then, Reese has continued to draw criticism from those who disagree with her approach to the game. In response, she hasn’t wavered and continues to play her way.
On Monday, the teams met again in the Elite Eight, with Clark and Iowa getting the best of the Tigers to clinch a spot in the final four.
Clark, a senior, has already declared for the WNBA Draft. Reese, a junior, is eligible for the draft but has not made a decision. After what could be her final game as a member of the LSU Tigers, Reese gave a glimpse into what her life’s been like since her viral moment a year ago.
“I’ve been through so much,” an emotional Reese said in the post-game game press conference. “I’ve seen so much. I’ve been attacked so many times. Death threats. I’ve been sexualized. I’ve been threatened. I’ve been — so many things and I’ve stood strong every single time; and I just try to stand strong for my teammates because I don’t want them to see me down and not be there for them.
“I just want them to always just know I’m still a human. All this has happened since I won the national championship and I said the other day, ‘I haven’t had peace since then,’ and it sucks but I still wouldn’t change. I wouldn’t change anything and I would still sit here say that I’m unapologetically me.”
“I just try to stay strong… I’ve been attacked so many times. Death threats, I’ve been sexualized, I’ve been threatened… I’m still human. All this has happened since I won the national championship & I haven’t been happy since then.”
