‘Mad Dog’ Russo Absolutely Loses It Over College Football Scheduling Woes: ‘Put the Games on Separately!’

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo blew a gasket Wednesday ranting about college football scheduling two of the biggest games of the weekend at the same time.

Russo aired his grievances during his weekly First Take segment “What Are You Mad About.” This upcoming weekend, the NCAA has two major matchups in Alabama-Georgia and Oregon-Penn State. At the time of writing, all four teams ranked within the top 20, with three of them being in the top six.

The problem, as Russo detailed, was that both games were scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.

“Why does college football still do this?” Russo said. “They cannibalize each other! Oregon and Penn State, the biggest game in the Big 10 this year, is on NBC; and we at ABC put Alabama-Georgia on at the same time at 7:30? I mean, that’s ridiculous!”

“It’s the SEC, Big 10 — the best conferences. It’s the two best games. Here it is, college football! Some weeks, they give you absolutely nothing. You have no games to watch. NIU at Villanova, Penn State — you got nothing! Last week, they gave you Michigan-Nebraska. Nobody cares! Miami-Florida, nobody cares! They got two big games and they put them on at the same time!” he continued.

Russo, a frequent enjoyer of cannabis gummies, added that he was going to be high on Saturday and didn’t want to constantly flip channels with his remote, which he referred to as a “dopey gadget.”

“It drives you crazy!” Russo continued. “Put the games on separately when you got two great games!”
