NY Jets Star Accuses ESPN’s Troy Aikman of Completely Fabricating a Quote from Him

New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams called out Monday Night Football announcer Troy Aikman for supposedly attributing a fake quote to him.

During the Jets’ game against the Chargers, Aikman acknowledged the fact that Williams has yet to record a sack this season. As the broadcast showed highlights of Williams attracting the attention of multiple offensive players, Aikman claimed Williams calls himself “the highest-paid decoy in football.”

On Wednesday, Williams used the end of his media availability to clarify he never said that. In fact, he claimed he never even spoke to Aikman.

“I never said that,” Quinnen stated. “I never talked to Troy Aikman. I never said that to Troy Aikman. I don’t know where he got that from. It never came out of my mouth that I was the ‘highest-paid decoy.’

“I never said that. I never talked to him before the game. I never alluded to that. It’s never been out of my mouth.”

A reporter then asked Williams if he ever had any sort of conversation with Aikman. Again, Williams said he did not.

“So to hear him say that I said that is kind of upsetting that he would lie on me like that or say that I said that,” Williams continued. “So that’s kind of weird to me.

“Yeah, for sure, it was definitely misleading.”
