‘Please Don’t Talk About My Momma’: Jemele Hill Draws the Ire of an Ex-NBA Player in Befuddling Attack

Former NBA player Kwame Brown has been on a media rampage this week, attacking anyone who ever criticized him for being a bust in the league. Frequently referred to by the media as one of the biggest busts in NBA Draft history, Brown has plenty of targets.
Some of those targeted in his spiteful rants include Skip Bayless, Stephen Jackson, Matt Barnes and Shannon Sharpe. Brown even challenged Stephen A. Smith to a fight!
Attempting to jump out in front of a potential attack, journalist Jemele Hill pleaded with Brown to leave her alone, apologizing for any potential slander she may have sent his way during her media career. But it didn’t work the way she hoped.
Kwame Brown got me checking the tape to make sure I ain’t ever said shit about him. If I did, I’m sorry. Please don’t talk about my momma.

But it didn’t work the way she hoped. After Hill posted her second tweet about Brown, the former No. 1 overall draft pick blasted her — accusing the former Sportscenter anchor of wrongfully calling him violent.
“Jemele Hill, good morning. Good morning Black queen,” Brown said in response to Hill. “You said all weekend I was being violent so that leads me to believe something is a little off about you. Ms. Hill, mam I have children and you just lied on me and you on deck.”

Brown addressed Hill further on his YouTube channel, as he began by explaining the term “violent” as the use of physical force.
“You trying to use your little liberal, democratic talking points that because I’m challenging these brothers on how they destroy Black men, I used my words,” Brown said. “And you used the word violence. That’s the narrative you wanna put out mam? I think you’re exposing yourself Ms. Hill.”
Hill fired back, in an attempt to explain her tweet, writing that she didn’t call Brown violent, she said he “chose violence,” calling it a Game of Thrones reference. A fan of the show would have to confirm whether or not that explanation holds.
To Kwame Brown: I said you CHOSE violence. It’s an expression from Game of Thrones. i didn’t call you violent. Please, and thank you.

That’s fine .. except I never said anything about him and now he’s attacked me online, which is bringing a fresh set of threats to me for no reason

In a draft chock full of All-Stars and players with long careers including Pau Gasol, Zach Randolph, Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas among others, Michael Jordan selected Brown No. 1 overall for the Wizards in 2001.
Having never lived up to the hype of a top pick, Brown received endless criticism throughout the last two decades. With the 2021 NBA Draft just two months away, it will be interesting to see if any analysts dare to poke fun at Brown this year.
