Stephen A. Smith Blasts ‘Convoluted’ Max Kellerman for Saying LeBron is Slipping: ‘He’s Still Better Than’ Everyone Else!
At 36-years-old are we finally seeing the decline of LeBron James? ESPN’s Max Kellerman thinks so, but in the same argument, he also said LeBron might still be the best player in the NBA.
“LeBron was twice as good as anyone else when he was at his best. He may still be, a little bit better than everyone else. Maybe,” Kellerman told a seemingly unfazed Stephen A. Smith. “Usually he has the playoffs to prove that, I don’t think that’s going to be the case this year.”
Smith wasn’t buying the idea that LeBron might be on the decline, instead focusing on Kellerman’s ability to claim the four-time MVP could be both slipping and the league’s best player.
“If you repeatedly have to explain yourself and what you mean, maybe the problem isn’t with those of us listening, maybe it’s with your presentation and delivery which comes across a bit convoluted,” Smith fired back. “It’s you that has a problem stating the obvious!”
Smith explained how Kellerman regularly waxes poetic about NBA stars such as Kyrie Irving, Steph Curry, James Harden, Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant and others.
“You say, LeBron has slipped, but he’s still better than them,” Smith continued. “Well damnnnnnn! Where’s the evidence that he’s slipped if he’s still better than the superlatives you threw on the individual!”
Regardless of the possible “slippage,” it’s incredible that we’re still able to debate whether LeBron’s the best player in the NBA during his 18th season in the league.
