WATCH: Kyle Brandt Takes Veiled Jab at Ryan Clark After ‘Non-Player’ Dig at Peter Schrager

They may not be TV teammates anymore, but Kyle Brandt still has Peter Schrager’s back.

Brandt, during a hit on The NFL Today on CBS on Sunday, not-so-subtly showed his support for his former Good Morning Football co-host, days after Schrager was written off as a “non-player” by ex-NFL safety Ryan Clark on Friday’s episode of ESPN’s Get Up.

Schrager quickly defended himself after the barb, telling the 13-year NFL veteran, “Don’t belittle me like that.”

On Sunday, Brandt immediately referenced the viral moment as the CBS crew threw it to him.

“It’s great to see everybody around the country today, working there, especially on set in Los Angeles,” Brandt said.

With a smirk, he added: “And a special shout-out to the non-players today. We see you, we respect you, on our set and several others.”

Brandt’s nod to the “non-players” out there comes after the Clark-Schrager squabble received plenty of attention online.

His backing of Schrager shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, after the pair had a great rapport on Good Morning Football, which they co-hosted together for several years on the NFL Network before Schrager moved to ESPN in early 2025.

Clark, meanwhile, apologized for disparaging Schrager in an X post on Friday.

“Today, I had an interaction with my colleage @PSchrags both on and off the air that I regret,” Clark said. “I have apologized to Peter and taken accountability with ESPN leadership. I value working with Peter and look forward to this season. My focus will remain on professionalism, teamwork, and being a better teammate moving forward.”

On Saturday, Front Office Sports reported Clark is on “thin ice” with ESPN executives, considering it was his second public apology to a co-worker this year.

In May, Clark had to apologize for dragging Robert Griffin III’s wife into a debate about WNBA stars Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and race.
