‘There You Go!’ Awkward Moment When Jennifer Lopez Is Asked About Ben Affleck Divorce on Today Show

“Jenny From the Block” was not feelin’ so good about that question.

Jennifer Lopez, on Monday, was visibly thrown off when Today show co-host Craig Melvin asked her about her ex-husband Ben Affleck, while the pop star was on the show to promote her new flick, Kiss of the Spiderwoman.

Melvin, midway through the interview, said: “In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce is also finalized with Ben.”

“There you go! Look at this guy!” Lopez interjected, while smiling and turning to look at someone off camera.

“But then I read your ex is an executive producer on the film,” Melvin continued.

Lopez kept it together and responded magnanimously: “He is. If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have got made. And I will always give him that credit… things happen. You have to keep going. ”

Melvin, a moment later, said the film sounded like it may have helped “save” Lopez during a tough time. “It did!” she exclaimed.

Affleck is indeed an executive producer on the new musical drama, alongside his old pal, Matt Damon. Lopez and Affleck finalized their second divorce in January, after the on-again, off-again couple were married in July 2022.

The Melvin-Lopez interview moved on smoothly enough from there. Melvin asked her about the controversy surrounding Bad Bunny being announced as the next Super Bowl halftime performer — but Lopez said she was blissfully unaware some people were not happy about it. “Is there a controversy?” she responded.

There was, with some MAGA influencers, including Benny Johnson, voicing their displeasure last week. Bad Bunny, on SNL a few days later, told his critics they “have four months” to learn Spanish to enjoy his Super Bowl show.

Lopez said she believed those who are upset with the Latin music star will be “pleasantly surprised” because “music transcends language.”
