Video Shows Escaped Convict Richard Matt Playing Around with Deadly Weapon
ABC News exclusively obtained video of escaped convict Richard Matt playing around with a blow dart gun just nine months before he kidnapped and killed his boss, leading to his recent stint in prison.
In the grainy 1997 footage, Matt — whom the man behind the camera calls “Ricky” — poses with the weapon and jokes about dipping the dart in blood that contains the AIDS virus. “We’ll put a patent on them and sell as deadly weapons,” he coldly stated.
At one point, the cameraman tests the blow dart on Matt, firing a dart into his arm as a way to show “what true pain looks like.”
Matt and David Sweat, escaped from a New York prison on June 6, and are still at-large.
