‘Absolutely Hypocritical’: Scarborough Rails Against ‘Beyond Shameless’ Republicans ‘Selling Out Our Children’

“I’m angry,” Joe Scarborough declared on Thursday’s Morning Joe, coming right off a commercial break. Specifically at Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR), who broke with his party on chained CPI yesterday, and more broadly at the Republicans who’ve yet to condemn him. Deeming his stance “pathetic,” Scarborough refused to let up.

During an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer yesterday, Walden said Obama was “trying to balance this budget on the backs of seniors” — because chained CPI was included in his proposal. “He attacked the president from the left,” Chuck Todd remarked, as Scarborough stated he was so angry he didn’t even know what to do with himself.

“Anybody, any Republican, any Democrat that runs against responsible rational solutions to take care of our long-term debt is selling out our children, is stealing from the next generation,” Scarborough charged. “It’s generational theft, and for Republicans to do this is beyond shameless. They did it in 2010.”

He went on to note that they’ve been hounding the president about this issue for months, and now he’s approaching it, this is the reaction. Scarborough further quipped about talking to Phil Griffin about starting a PAC so he could “Bloomberg” those like Walden.

It’s “pathetic” and “absolutely hypocritical,” he added, as Todd noted that changing Social Security polls poorly. If Republicans don’t speak out against Walden, Scarborough argued, “the president should walk away…I cannot condemn this enough.”

“Republicans, you better speak out against this right now.”
