Amy Poehler Describes How She Showed Up In Those Old Stock Photos

Last week, the Internet delighted at the discovery of some old stock photos featuring none other than Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler. “How could this be?” we wondered. Well, Poehler may be one of the most successful women in comedy, starring in multiple beloved series, becoming an SNL cast member and anchoring Weekend Update while there, and co-founding two of the biggest comedy theaters and schools in New York and Los Angeles, however, that stuff doesn’t happen over night. She explained her Getty Image past last night to Jimmy Kimmel.

As Poehler explained, while in her twenties, she and her friends had two big options of how to get some extra cash. They could sell blood or they could pose for the kind of pictures that you get when you buy a picture frame. She laughed about the pictures now but you could tell she wasn’t particularly thrilled that they had resurfaced.

“What’s such a bummer is that, when other actresses get their old modeling pictures in the Internet, they’re really young and sexy and I look like a sociopath who’s gonna smother a man with a pillow.”

Oh, well. With a resume like her’s, I think Poehler will be able to get over the embarrassment.
