Andy Samberg Returns to SNL with Hilarious Rapid-Fire Impressions

Former SNL cast-member Andy Samberg (remember him?) returned to the show tonight for his first turn as host. His monologue was a cut above the recent spat of mediocrity.

Right off the bat, he referenced a certain pop star’s absence from the show: “Justin Timberlake could not be here tonight, he’s on tour in Russia,” he joked, undoubtedly putting to bed any thought that JT could be used again as an SNL ratings ploy.

Samberg boasted about his marriage, his multiple Golden Globe victories for Brooklyn Nine Nine, and his ability to do rapid-fire impressions of other celebrities. So fast, he claimed, that he’s actually better than SNL‘s famous impressionist Bill Hader.

Former cast-mate Seth Meyers came out to read off a list of 20+ celebs — from the obscure (the father from Alf) to the obvious (Keanu Reeves) for Samberg to impersonate in under a minute.

And even though Samberg was successful, Hader came out and one-upped his buddy. And then another SNL impressionist, Martin Short, showed up to add insult to injury.
