Author of New Clinton Book: Hillary’s ‘Big Achievement’ to Tout in 2016 Is Obamacare
The authors of HRC, a new book on the life and political career of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, appeared on MSNBC’s The Cycle on Thursday where they discussed some of the revelations in their book. One of the authors, The Hill’s Amie Parnes, told the MSNBC hosts that they discovered that Clinton was partly responsible for rallying Democrats and President Barack Obama’s Cabinet to help pass the Affordable Care Act. This achievement, she says, will be something Clinton can run on if she mounts a presidential campaign in 2016.
MSNBC host Krystal Ball noted that she was sharply critical of Clinton earlier this week and asked if the authors of this new book believe Clinton is aware that she has an issue with the parts of the Democratic base that are “very passionate about economic populism and income inequality.”

“That’s one thing we heard is that she didn’t really have a marquee peace deal, she doesn’t really have anything tangible, they say,” Parnes said. “She had her fingerprints all over domestic policy, particularly health care.”
Parnes recounted a meeting in which Clinton rallied the president’s cabinet to “get behind” the ACA. “I think that’s a big achievement for her if she wants to make that case on 2016,” she concluded.
