Bassem Youssef Gives Stewart Grief for Picking Trevor Noah over Him
On Monday, before he was spotted hanging out with Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David at the Mets home opener, new Daily Show host Trevor Noah popped up in the Twitter feed of “Egypt’s Jon Stewart,” Bassem Youssef:

That “nemesis” label became clear Monday night when Youssef sat down with Stewart in his role as Senior Middle East Correspondent on The Daily Show to help break down the various proxy wars in that region. But first, he had some feeling to get off his chest.
“I see that while I was away you picked some other guy to replace you,” Youssef said. “So you wanted a handsome, young comedian from Africa?” he asked pointing to himself, “Hello!” He added, “What, Jon, Egypt is not African enough for you?”
“Oh yeah, Egypt is in Africa,” Stewart remarked.
Had Youssef, who hosted his own Daily Show-esque program in Egypt until the government there shut him down, gotten the gig over Noah, one can only imagine what those looking to bring him down to earth might have uncovered.
