Bergdahl Platoon Medic: Released Soldier ‘Not a Hero,’ Definitely Deserted Post

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, the medic from Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s platoon in Afghanistan said the recently-released soldier definitely “deserted” his post before capture and declared him “not a hero.”

“After Bowe Bergdahl purposely and willfully walked away, every single mission was titled toward finding him,” platoon medic Joshua Cornelison told host Chris Wallace on Sunday.

In response to administration officials suggesting Bergdahl’s former platoon mates have been attempting to “swift boat” the former Taliban prisoner, Cornelison said, “I don’t know what certain people want to hear… We were there. This isn’t some story that we’re making up.”

When asked why he is speaking out now against his former colleague, Cornelison said: “The American people need to be educated that Bowe Bergdahl is not a hero. He did not serve with honor or any kind of distinction.”
