‘Better Call Saul’ Actor Deems Fox’s Jesse Watters ‘A Simpleton and a Blazing A**hole’

Fox News host Jesse Watters drew the ire of Michael McKean by referring to the first Black person to serve as White House press secretary as a ‘DEI’ hire.

Karine Jean-Pierre, who served under former President Joe Biden, made waves on Wednesday by announcing that she has left the Democratic Party and is out with a new book called Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines. The publication comes on the heels of the release of another book, Original Sin, by CNN host Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson. That book provides some behind-the-scenes accounts of the lengths Biden’s top aides would go to conceal the ex-president’s condition from the media and even other staffers.

On Wednesday’s Jesse Watters Primetime, the host covered Jean-Pierre in the A block, where he referred to her as “Binder,” his longtime nickname for her because, like other White House press secretaries, she brought a binder with her to briefings.

“Binder spent two years lying from a podium and now she wants to tell us the truth?” Watters said, before suggesting Jean-Pierre was hired for purposes of diversity, equity, and inclusion. “Look at the name of the book: ‘Inside a Broken White House.’ Now she’s telling us the White House was broken? Wait a second, who else wrote a book about this? Yeah, Tapper. Binder’s now DEI Tapper. I wonder who got paid more.”

Over on X, superuser @Acyn posted a video of the segment and was quote-tweeted by McKean, perhaps most famous for his roles as Chuck McGill in Better Call Saul and David St. Hubbins in This Is Spinal Tap.

“In all fairness,” he wrote. “Jesse is a simpleton and a blazing asshole.”
