Bill Kristol, Symone Sanders Get Heated Over Kavanaugh Allegations on CNN: ‘That’s Ridiculous!’

CNN commentators Symone Sanders and Bill Kristol spared on Monday while debating how the country moves ahead with Christine Ford‘s sexual assault claims against Brett Kavanaugh.

The fireworks began when Kristol spoke to Jake Tapper on The Lead, saying Kavanaugh and Ford need to testify before Congress, and there has to be a search for “contemporaneous evidence” to find out who’s telling the truth. Sanders pushed back by saying Kavanaugh has “lied multiple times under oath,” and the conversation swiftly deteriorated when Kristol shot back with “that’s ridiculous!”

Sanders even brought up a painful story from her own past as she said she believes Ford:

Sanders said she would’ve spoken out against the man if he was ever nominated to the Supreme Court, and while Kristol recognized her point, he continued to spar with Sanders by saying “We have no knowledge whether Brett Kavanaugh did that.” They also discussed whether there’s enough evidence to speculate about what Kavanaugh most likely did in this situation.

“The letter is compelling in the sense that it doesn’t look like something that was made up, and in fact, she puts in details that could or could not be corroborated,” Kristol said. “I am not questioning her motives or at this point saying that I know who’s telling the truth. We really need to have the hearing, really need to investigate this.”
