Bill Maher: “Anti-Immigrant Hoopies” Want To Enforce Law Because They Are “Bullies”
Last night on Real Time, Bill Maher celebrated Mother’s Day by saying a hearty thank you to America’s nannies– especially the illegal immigrant ones. Attacking the Arizona immigration law, Maher put the blame on corporate America for breaking down unions and hiring illegal aid, and offered that, in his experience, immigrants make much better workers than American citizens (though his example of an American employee was Stephen Baldwin).
Maher calls those who seek to enforce immigration laws “bullies,” and implies that the only reason people want to enforce federal laws is because women have joined the workforce in higher numbers:
“Why set our crosshairs on the humble, servile people? Because we’re bullies. Instead of confronting real threats like the debt or the environment or Utah, we pick out the poorest, most defenseless kid on the block, illegal immigrants, and say ‘What are you looking at?’ But I’ll tell you something, you anti-immigrant hoopies: As usual, you are mad at the wrong people. It was corporate America that busted your unions and didn’t keep your pay up to the cost of living, causing your wife to have to go back to work, and Esmeralda have to come in and watch the kids. Your problem is low wages, not low riders.”
After accusing anti-illegal immigration advocates of being bullies and implying that they are cowards when faced with real issues, Maher continues by saying that Caucasians should start “being nice” to illegal immigrants because “brown people are going to breed their way to power,” so they might as well get ahead of the curve.
