Bill Maher Knows Why Tea Party Isn’t Loving ‘President Blackenstein’s’ Syria Decision
Real Time doesn’t return to HBO until next Friday, but that hasn’t stopped Bill Maher from weighing in on President Obama’s decision to go to Congress for approval on his planned Syria strike. The comedian took to Twitter this weekend to sum up why he thinks some conservatives are opposing Obama’s plan.
Maher tweeted “Kudos to Barry for restoring constitution re war powers. Tea People shld luv it but of course wont cuz President Blackenstein did it”:

He posted the same message on Facebook, where it’s racked up nearly 30,000 likes and 3,000 shares, with “fans” on all sides of the issue offering their opinions.

Clearly, Maher is itching to get back in his Real Time chair to start debating these issues. By the time he returns on September 13th, Congress will likely have taken a vote on the issue, so if he wants to sway public opinion one way or the other, he’ll have to do it on social media.
Maher did offer his personal opinions on Syria back in June, before the apparent large-scale chemical attack took place. During that show, he asked incredulously, “Can’t we just sit one of [the wars] out? Does every time the bat signal go off, we have to answer it?”
