Bill Maher Will Kick Off New Comedy Segment for HBO’s Real Sports

HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel is adding a new segment with a comedic spin this year, where various different comedians will take on certain aspects of the sports industry.

And HBO is getting comedians they have the closest connections with for all of these segments. According to its press release today, the debut of Real Sports on February 24th will end with none other than HBO star Bill Maher closing out the show with “a personal, unfiltered take on some element of sports.”

Maher will do “New Rules for Real Sports,” a take on his Real Time show-ending “New Rules.”

Other comedians like Chris Rock, Lewis Black, and Susie Essman are expected to also take part in the segment. And since John Oliver happens to also have an HBO show, and just happens to have already done a big segment examining something shady in the sports world, it’s hard to imagine he won’t appear at some point.
