Bob Costas: Media Can Play Part in Convincing Sterling He Must Sell Team
NBC Sports broadcaster Bob Costas joined MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell on Monday to examine some of the options available to the National Basketball Association to remove Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the ranks of team owners in the wake his racially insensitive comments. Costas said that the media were among the forces that the NBA could marshal to convince Sterling that it was in his best interest to sell the team.
Costas began by saying that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will likely act against Sterling soon which will include a fine and a suspension. During that suspension, Costas said that Silver and the other team owners will have the opportunity to marshal groups to pressure Sterling into relinquishing his ownership of the Clippers.

“During that period of time where he’s suspended, bring all of the force that he can,” Costas said of Sliver, “the force of fellow owners, the media, players, the commissioner’s office, bring all of that together to force Donald Sterling to see that his days as an NBA owner are over and he must sell the team.”
