CBS Evening News Shines a Spotlight on Anti-LGBT Attacks After Orlando
Anti-LGBT violence has been a serious concern around the country for years now, and in the wake of the Orlando massacre at a gay nightclub, CBS Evening News tonight brought a focus to concerns in the gay community about overall LGBT violence.
As Scott Pelley put it, “fear is still a constant reality.”
There were 24 LGBT homicides in a sampling of 11 states, and the newscast also brought up the shocking words of a Christian pastor who said Orlando is “a little safer tonight” and it’s sad “more of them didn’t die.”
The question of how much of the media focus should be on the homophobic nature of this terrorist attack has actually spurred on pretty strong debates.
