Chris Matthews on Potential Oprah-Trump 2020 Race: She Has Empathy, He Doesn’t
Yes, we’re really talking about this, folks. Chris Matthews tonight sized up a potential 2020 election between Donald Trump and Oprah Winfrey.
Winfrey half-joked today about reconsidering a run for president after Trump made her realize that her lack of political experience wouldn’t be a deal-breaker.
Variety‘s Ted Johnson told Matthews that Winfrey is well-liked and certainly would bring in a lot of positives, but she would have to run in the Democratic party as a billionaire making a case to working Americans.
Matthews said, “I think Oprah… [has] empathy. Right now we have a president who has no empathy for regular people and their problems. He doesn’t connect with pain.”
