Chris Wallace: Hurricane Harvey Is an Important Competence Test for Trump Admin
Fox News’ Chris Wallace said on Special Report tonight that Hurricane Harvey is a major test for the Trump administration.
Wallace made it clear at the outset that first and foremost, this is a human story with life-threatening consequences. But he also said the response efforts will be a big test for the White House, something the White House understands as well.
“They gotta know,” Wallace said, “that this is an important test for the competence of this administration.”
Washington Post correspondent Karen Tumulty said while it looks like they’ve learned some lessons from the Katrina era, there are a few key positions that need to be filled. Wallace noted that includes the fact there’s currently an acting DHS Secretary now that John Kelly is chief of staff.
Homeland Security adviser Tom Bossert said today that leading during this serious moment is “right up President Trump’s alley.”
