CNN announced on Saturday that GOP primary candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis abruptly canceled a scheduled Sunday interview with Dana Bash — just days before the New Hampshire primary.
DeSantis was reportedly scheduled to join CNN’s State of the Union for a Sunday show interview with the anchor, according to a message posted on the show’s account on X (formerly Twitter). The Florida governor has made numerous media appearances and interviews in the lead up to the New Hampshire primary.
However, the network announced less than 24 hours before air time that the DeSantis campaign “cancelled” his appearance just two days before voters in New Hampshire pick a Republican candidate. The show did not indicate that a reason was given for the cancellation.
“Unfortunately, tomorrow’s scheduled interview on CNN’s State of the Union with Ron DeSantis was cancelled by the campaign. We look forward to having the Governor join us on the show in the near future,” the network wrote via the State of the Union account on X.

Earlier this week, DeSantis appeared to concede defeat to former President Donald Trump in the upcoming primary, telling Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto in a Friday interview that “he’s running away with it in New Hampshire.”
Following his victory in Iowa Caucus with 51% of the vote, Trump leads in New Hampshire with 49.7% average support, according to RealClearPolitics.
DeSantis also canceled plans for an interview on Meet The Press, according to NBC News anchor Kristen Welker. His campaign claimed the cancellations were due to a last-minute schedule change for the governor to speak in New Hampshire.
NEW: Gov. Ron DeSantis has pulled out of his #MTP appearance tomorrow morning due to what a person familiar says is a last-minute schedule change. Per his campaign, he will now hold an event in New Hampshire tomorrow evening. He is currently campaigning in South Carolina.
