CNN’s Camerota: Carson Slamming the Media is ‘An Attack on Journalism’
CNN’s Alisyn Camerota said that Ben Carson‘s attacks on the media for looking into his background are basically “an attack on journalism.”
On this morning’s New Day, Camerota––who got some heat from Carson supporters for a tough interview last week––said the scrutiny is fair game. The Daily Beast’s Jackie Kucinish agreed and said since Carson has no legislative record and most of his appeal centers around his background, looking into that background is perfectly legitimate.
Chris Cuomo expressed concern that the media is being made an “opponent” of Republicans in a way that may “damage our ability” to cover the 2016 election.
Camerota said this isn’t just Carson “attacking the media,” “it’s an attack on journalism.”
“Let’s just call it what it is,” she said. “It’s an attack on journalism. Journalists ask questions, that’s the process, and if you don’t like journalism, we should talk about that with presidential candidates.”
