CNN’s Dana Bash Wonders Why Pro-Palestine Movement Isn’t Pressuring Hamas to Accept Trump Deal

CNN anchor Dana Bash asked on Friday why the pro-Palestine movement is not pressuring Hamas to accept President Donald Trump’s peace agreement amid the president promising “all hell, like no one has ever seen before” if they don’t.

On CNN’s State of the Union, Bash wrapped up an interview with Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) by asking the lawmaker if she was “curious” why pro-Palestine activists are not more actively pushing for Hamas to accept a peace deal with Israel. Trump recently released a 20-point peace plan, and he vowed that if it is not signed by 6 p.m. (Washington, D.C. time) on Sunday, there will be “hell” to pay.

“If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Bash asked Shaheen on Friday:

Do you find it curious that the protesters who have been in the streets, the people we’re hearing from Hollywood and elsewhere who have intent understandably on helping the people of, the Palestinians, the people in Gaza who are under bombardment and have been for some time and who are hungry, are starving, that now that this peace plan is before Hamas, we’re not seeing that same pressure on Hamas? Should they be continuing their protest but focus on Hamas?

Shaheen fully agreed that all focus at the moment should be on Hamas, noting they kicked off the war with their Oct. 7 attack on Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already showed support for Trump’s plan, which would include a temporary government, an influx of humanitarian aid, the release of remaining hostages, and more.

“We all should be focused on Hamas. They’re the reason we’re in this mess. They’re a terrorist organization,” Shaheen told Bash. “Their rampage into Israel is unprecedented and it’s what set off this war in Gaza that so many people are suffering from. So they need to come to the table. They need to release the hostages.”
