CNN’s Zakaria Invokes Reagan to Knock Trump on North Korea: His Approach Is ‘Trust And Never Verify’
CNN’s Fareed Zakaria: “Countries will always tell you what you want to hear, and that’s why Ronald Reagan’s famous line with the Soviet Union was ‘trust, but verify.’ It seems that Donald Trump’s attitude with Kim Jong Un is trust, trust, trust, trust and never verify.” pic.twitter.com/ZLBthfpoHF

CNN host Fareed Zakaria paraphrased a famous Ronald Reagan quote to knock President Donald Trump’s approach to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, as he claimed the president likes to “trust, trust, trust, trust and never verify.”
“Countries will always tell you what you want to hear, and that’s why Ronald Reagan’s famous line with the Soviet Union was ‘trust, but verify,'” Zakaria said while discussing the White House’s attempts to wrangle in North Korea’s nuclear threats. “It seems that Donald Trump’s attitude with Kim Jong Un is trust, trust, trust, trust and never verify.”
Zakaria’s criticism was inspired by Trump’s most recent comments regarding the North Koreans, in which the president claimed that without his negotiations — specifically at the US-DPRK summit in Singapore last month — America would “be at war.”
Many good conversations with North Korea-it is going well! In the meantime, no Rocket Launches or Nuclear Testing in 8 months. All of Asia is thrilled. Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining. If not for me, we would now be at War with North Korea!

Since the summit, Trump has pushed the idea that North Korea is pursuing denuclearization. However, reports from the president’s own intelligence services suggest otherwise, as it appears Kim is expanding the authoritarian regime’s nuclear capabilities rather than deescalating them.
