Covington Catholic Families Hire MAGA Attorney Who Just Vowed on Fox & Friends to Sue ‘Maggie Haberstam’
Some families of Covington Catholic High School students have hired Robert Barnes to go after various journalists and celebrities for what they allege to be libelous comments about their kids.
At issue is the media firestorm after videos emerged over the weekend from an ugly protesting incident this weekend at the Lincoln Memorial that saw Black Hebrew Israelites hurling racist and homophobic invective at the Kentucky High School kids, an Omaha tribal elder inserting himself in the tense situation with a drum, and the ultimate surrounding of said elder by the Covington Catholic kids.
As with almost everything in this divided time, the videos proved to be yet another example of the Rorschach Test era in which we find ourselves. Some believe that the smirking and dancing kids showed great disrespect, while others have argued that the media treated these kids unfairly in the early days of how this story was reported. Both versions appear to be somewhat true.
Enter Barnes, a big supporter of Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda, who has offered free legal counsel for families involved. He appeared Wednesday morning and reiterated his claim that everyone is on 48 hours notice to retract their libelous comments. “If you have said anything false about these kids, they are willing to extend” a 48 hour time period to retract, correct and apologize.
He also reiterated a threat he made on Twitter toward’s New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, though he misspoke and called her “Maggie Haberstam.”
I will represent the kids for free if they want to sue @maggieNYT for obvious libel. https://t.co/VmqVqIVNoe

It is not yet clear what sort of actual case Barnes has regarding his libelous claim, however, he did get booked on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning. It’s a shame that he publicly embarrassed himself by incorrectly state the name of the individual who is currently considered the top White House reporter for the paper of record.
But hey, he got on TV!
