Cruz: If Dems Want to Replace Scalia, They Should Win the Election First
Ted Cruz this morning reiterated the strong belief he and many other conservatives hold that President Obama shouldn’t be nominating Supreme Court justices in an election year.
On ABC’s This Week, Cruz told George Stephanopoulos, “We should not allow a lame duck president to essentially capture the Supreme Court in the waning months of his presidency.”
Stephanopoulos asked him if he’s really saying the president shouldn’t be allowed to nominate a Supreme Court justice. Cruz insisted that “if the Democrats want to replace this nominee, they need to win the election.”
But he also went on the offensive against Donald Trump, warning that he wouldn’t appoint a conservative and saying if Trump is the president, “the Second Amendment will be written out of the Constitution.”
