Cruz: Obama’s Divisive Demagoguery ‘Very Much the Same’ as Trump’s

Ted Cruz linked President Obama to Donald Trump on Meet the Press this morning in talking about how both men engage in divisive demagoguery.

Chuck Todd showed video of the president riffing on Trump and how much of what he says is the end result of a party that “feed[s] suspicion about immigrants and Muslims and poor people and people who aren’t like us.”

Cruz responded, “Barack Obama’s a world-class demagogue. That language there is designed to divide us.”

He listed all the reasons people are angry at the Obama administration before ripping him for “self-righteous moralizing” that does nothing to keep America safe.

Todd asked if his rhetoric is worse than Trump’s. Cruz said, “To be honest, I think it’s very much the same. They’re both engaging in demagoguery.”
