Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper Ribs Studio Audience Cheering On Tesla Arson: ‘Wow, You Guys Like Petty Acts of Domestic Terrorism’

The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper called out his studio audience for cheering over “petty acts of domestic terrorism” as they watched media reports about Tesla vehicles being set on fire.

During a segment on the backlash against billionaire Elon Musk and his work with DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) and President Donald Trump, Klepper rolled footage of Tesla vehicles being targeted with everything from gunfire to Molotov cocktails in Las Vegas, Chicago, Seattle, and elsewhere.

Tesla vehicles and buildings have been increasingly targeted around the country in recent weeks as critics protest Musk’s DOGE work and sweeping cuts to the federal government.

The Daily Show studio audience cheered at the images of Musk’s vehicles burning, which Klepper noted with some surprise.

“Wow, you guys like petty acts of domestic terrorism, huh? Cool. Wow,” Klepper said as some in the audience cheered again.

Klepper moved on by condemning acts of violence, but also taking a shot at Musk by joking that the Teslas will likely blow up all on their own, no help from Molotov cocktails necessary.

“Nobody should be breaking the law and blowing up Teslas, especially because if you just wait a few minutes, they’ll probably do it by themselves,” he said.

Klepper called out Musk for laying off federal workers and the USAID shutdown — the latter of which has now faced a legal challenge — and argued people are “mad” with the billionaire because he doesn’t “seem to know” what he’s doing.

“Maybe people are mad at you because you don’t seem to know what the fuck you’re doing. I’m guessing! I’m guessing!” Klepper said. “You fired aviation safety staff, and then you had to hire them back. You fired nuclear safety inspectors, and then you had to hire them back. You cut funding for Ebola prevention and then said, oopsie!”

Klepper accused Musk of pretending to be ignorant about why he’s received such strong pushback and “people hate him.”

“Elon knows why people are mad at him. We know he’s not as smart as he pretends to be, but he’s also not as dumb as he’s pretending to be right now,” he said. “And when he goes on Sean Hannity to complain about why people hate him, he’s just proving that the troll king of the internet can’t handle the consequences of the real world.”
