Dana Perino Savages Biden’s Farewell Address: ‘The Speechwriters Have Already Left the Building’
Fox News host Dana Perino tore into President Joe Biden’s farewell address on Wednesday, arguing that it came across as though his “speechwriters have already left the building.”
Reacting to Biden’s farewell Oval Office address – during which he warned that “an oligarchy” was “taking shape” in the United States – Perino questioned, “What in the world was he talking about? For example, when he talks about dark money, does he not remember that just last week he gave the medal of freedom award to George Soros?”
Perino also criticized Biden for failing to mention the Covid-19 pandemic, “which was the entire premise of his presidency,” before continuing:
He’s sitting there talking about all these things that he’s done and I’m just like, this rings hollow. To me, it felt like the speechwriters have already left the building and that they asked ChatGPT to write a speech for Joe Biden in which he doesn’t remember that he was president for the last four years. If you ask people, “Are you better off today than you were four years ago?” The answer is no, except for maybe the solar companies and the delta smelt.
Co-host Jesse Watters responded, “That was mean Dana. Wow. Brit Hume, I mean, Dana is meaner than you are. What is happening here?”
During his speech, Biden said, “I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern… And that’s a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people, and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked.”
He continued, “Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead. We see the consequences all across America, and we’ve seen it before.”
