‘David, David – Gold Bathroom’: CNN’s Jim Sciutto Dumps on Ex-Trump Adviser’s Endorsement of Trump’s Latest White House Remodel

CNN’s Jim Sciutto mocked President Donald Trump’s renovation of the Lincoln Bathroom in the White House, and was in no mood to hear an endorsement of it.

On Friday, Trump announced the bathroom remodel in a Truth Social post, complete with pictures of the finished job.

“I renovated the Lincoln Bathroom in the White House,” the president said. “It was renovated in the 1940s in an art deco green tile style, which was totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era. I did it in black and white polished Statuary marble. This was very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there!”

The new bathroom features gold (or gold-plated) faucets and hooks. It comes as the government is about to enter month two of a government shutdown and the potential lapsing of food assistance benefits for tens of millions of Americans.

Hours after Trump posted the photos, Sciutto asked former Trump campaign adviser David Urban about the president announcing the bathroom renovation during a government shutdown.

“So, in the midst of that, President Trump revealed tonight on social media pictures of a bathroom renovation in the White House,” Sciutto said while guest-hosting The Source on CNN.. “The Lincoln Bedroom bathroom, specifically. He highlighted his use of black and white polished marble statuary. Is this a good look for the Republican president in the midst of a government shutdown when affordability is still a top-line issue for voters?”

“Yeah, you know, Jim, listen, this isn’t Donald Trump’s house,” Urban replied. “This is the president’s house that’s gonna be there for a long time. I don’t mind. I don’t think the American people mind. I think that this is, you know, it’s something–”

“David, David,” Sciutto interrupted. “Gold bathroom. Gold bathroom? Gold bathroom?”

“Listen, Jim, you know the saying,” Urban responded. “What’s the saying, Jim? Kitchens and bathrooms sell houses. That’s what they’re fixing up.”

“Oh come on!” interjected Democratic strategist Karen Finney. “You don’t have to sell it. Come on. It’s the people’s house. It is gauche. It is so disgusting. He’s not even here trying to bring people to the table. He’s out at his lush resort in Florida. I think it galls the American people.”
