Eric Garner’s Mother: What Video Was the Grand Jury Looking At?

Eric Garner‘s widow and mother spoke at a press conference tonight, accompanied by Reverend Al Sharpton, both calling for justice after the grand jury in his case declined to indict the officer who put Garner in a fatal chokehold. Esaw Garner held back tears as she said, “A cop did wrong… Somebody that got paid to do right did wrong.”

Gwen Carr, Garner’s mother, was next to speak. She remarked, “I am truly disappointed in the grand jury’s decision this evening. I don’t know what video they were looking at. Evidently it wasn’t the same one the rest of the world was looking at.”

She noted the upcoming federal investigation and called for non-violent protests. Carr told supporters, “Yeah, we want you to rally, but rally in peace.”
