‘Estaban Colberto’ Celebrates Obama’s Immigration Action

Tuesday night saw what will very likely be the final appearance of Stephen Colbert’s Latino alter ego “Estaban Colberto.” After reporting the details of President Barack Obama’s plan to protect up to five million undocumented immigrants from deportation through executive action, Colbert asked Colberto to weigh in with his perspective.

Colberto was hesitant to trust Obama on the issue after he made similar promises in the past, but that did not mean he was abandoning the president. Asked if the action would make Latinos more likely to vote Democratic, he answered, “No, they’ll vote Democrat because Republicans have been such huge dicks.” Quoting comments from Rep. Steve King (R-IA), he added, “They call us ‘illegals’ with calves like cantaloupes, who squat out anchor babies to steal welfare.”

Worse than that, Colberto said Republicans think Latinos like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) when the only person who likes Ted Cruz is Ted Cruz.
