Exceptionalism! Stewart Celebrates the Absolute Least Productive Congress Ever

Jon Stewart longed wistfully for the days of American exceptionalism on Tuesday night, in the wake of America ranking poorly in math, science, and reading around the world, and this current Congress being declared the absolute worst/least productive in the history of the United States. Huzzah!

Stewart didn’t directly blame the Republicans for the world record, but he did think the culprit might be the side that asked not to be judged by the number of laws they pass, but by the number of laws they repeal. Stewart mock-cried, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can stop your country from doing!”

Stewart then showed a report from correspondent Jason Jones on Congressional gerrymandering, and Jones spoke to one of the people responsible for mandering the gerry; a man who views himself as an artist who’s looking at “a story behind each line” and not just randomly drawing squiggly lines.
