Ferguson Mayor During Riots: Calls to Bring in National Guard Going Unheeded
Ferguson Mayor James Knowles called in to local station KTVI last night to say that he had called for the National Guard to be brought in to deal with the rioting, but his calls had gone unanswered.
Earlier in the night, Knowles had called on Governor Jay Nixon directly to take action:
BREAKING. Ferguson Mayor James Knowles, live on @kmoxnews, calls on governor to deploy National Guard in his city immediately.
— Charlie Kaye (@CharlieKayeCBS) November 25, 2014
But later on, Knowles not only said his calls (backed up by others) went “unheeded,” but slammed Nixon for not providing them enough resources to deal with the situation.
