Former Trump Campaign Deputy Manager David Bossie Says Hillary Was Right About Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy
Though a chief adversary of President Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton received a perhaps unexpected show of support Sunday from his own former deputy campaign manager David Bossie.
During a Fox News appearance with Corey Lewandowski to promote their new book, Trump’s Enemies, Bossie dredged up the infamous Clinton-backed theory that conservative political foes were involved in a plot to take down her husband, President Bill Clinton.
“There’s a vast left-wing conspiracy going on that has been going on since the president won this election. All throughout the transition and during those first two years — a vast left-wing conspiracy,” Bossie argued, adding that he was using “very similar words” to what Clinton referred to as “the right-wing conspiracy.”
Those allegations, raised in a lengthy 1995 document that came to be known as the “vast right-wing conspiracy” memo, claimed even the media was to blame for damaging Bill’s reputation.
Taking issue with Bossie’s claims, host Chris Wallace noted the Clinton theory “turned out not to be true.”
“No, it did turn out to be true,” Bossie shot back. “Chris, There was an effort by the conservative movement to undermine President Clinton.”
Though Wallace pointed out that Bill did in fact engage in a relationship with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, Bossie didn’t buy that the then president wasn’t targeted by his enemies.
“Of course he did [have that relationship],” Bossie said. “But what we’re saying here in the book, is the media, the Republican establishment and the intelligence services, not together, but separately, are undermining this president.”
Again rebutting Bossie’s claims, Wallace stressed that the intelligence community is neither left nor right-wing, and that the media was not necessarily loyal to either party.
