Former Trump Executive Dishes on the Parts of Cohen’s Testimony Which Rang ‘Very Much’ True
Barbara Res, a former executive within the Trump Organization, is vouching Michael Cohen following his testimony before the House Oversight Committee.
Since Cohen’s testimony criticizing President Donald Trump has come under fire by those who argue he’s not a credible witness, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota spoke to Res on Friday and asked her if she thought Cohen’s remarks “rang true.” Res answered with “very much so,” explaining how Cohen was correct about how Trump talks in “code” whenever he talks about what he wants people to do for him.
“He didn’t have to say what he wanted you to do exactly,” Res said. “He implied what would be good, what would be the right outcome, something he would like to see. [We’d] make it happen without him telling you what to do.”
Res went on to explain that people in Trump’s employ learn to lie for him as they get used to working with him and scramble to curry favor with him. As Res spoke of how employees get “lured in” by Trump as they start to believe what he tells them, Camerota asked her what the chances were for Cohen embarking in his shady conduct while Trump supposedly had no knowledge about any of it.
“I can’t imagine anything happening of any import at all at the Trump Organization…without [Trump] knowing about it,” said Res. “Anything major back then – something like the Trump Tower meeting with the Russians – He would know about that, absolutely.”
