Fox Analyst Warns Trump Over Redistricting Texas: Not A ‘Declaration of Strength and Confidence’

Former Representative Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN) warned President Donald Trump — and his Fox co-hosts — against redistricting Texas on Friday’s episode of The Five, saying the move is not “a declaration of strength and confidence” ahead of the midterms.

“If we allow this to happen, it’s because President Trump has urged them to do it,” said Ford. “I don’t think if you’re the president and you have midterms coming up next year, that this is a real projection and declaration of strength and confidence, if you need to have Texas try and find you five more seats.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) leads the Trump-backed effort to change the election map before the 2026 midterms, a move that has since caused Texas Democrats to flee the state, attempting to stall the vote on the redrawn boundaries.

On Friday, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) announced a potential plan to redraw the state’s congressional districts to favor Democrats, which Ford continued to spar over with co-hosts Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld.

Check out the exchange below:

GREG GUTFELD: Maybe it’s time that the hunter become the hunted.

HAROLD FORD JR: Can I ask you a question? If they do this in Texas, then by your analysis, it’s okay if Democrats do it in New York and Illinois and California?

GUTFELD: Then the Republicans can do it. You see what I’m saying?

FORD JR: So this is payback on top of payback on top of payback.

GUTFELD: Exactly.

FORD JR: Which is why our system is crushed by —

JESSE WATTERS: You know what, Harold? You started it. Impeached him twice. You think that just came out of nowhere?

FORD JR: I wasn’t there.

GUTFELD: Yes, you were, Harold. You were here.
