Fox Host Brian Kilmeade Splits With Trump Over Ukraine: Putin ‘Is the Bad Guy’
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade split with President Donald Trump after he paused all U.S. aid to Ukraine on Monday, urging Republicans to “remember” that Russian President Vladimir Putin “is the bad guy.”
“Can we all remember @KremlinRussia_E [tagging Putin] is the bad guy- they invaded – they kidnap kids,” wrote Kilmeade in a post to Elon Musk’s social network X. “Whatever happens – Ukraine can not lose – eastern. Europe [sic] will be next.”
Kilmeade’s Fox News colleague Bret Baier interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Special Report last week, during which he asked Zelensky whether he owed Trump an apology for their public Oval Office clash.
“President Trump said after your meeting that you disrespected him and the vice president and all of America in the Oval Office. Do you think you did?” asked Baier. “And do you think you owe an apology to President Trump?”
“I’m very thankful to Americans for all your support, you did a lot. [I’m] thankful to President Trump and to Congress bipartisan support and I was always very thankful,” replied Zelensky. “We are strategic partners, and even in such tough dialogue, and I think we have to very honest and we have to be very direct to understand each other because it’s for us very necessary.”
He continued, “To President Trump, and I’m with all due respect that he wants to finish this war, but nobody wants to finish more than we, because we in Ukraine we are in this war, we are in this battle for freedom, for our lives. So I’m just telling that, I think that we have to be on the same side, and I hope that the president [is] on our side together with us.”
Trump paused all U.S. aid to Ukraine on Monday after warning Zelensky that the U.S. would “not put up with” his opposition to a peace deal with Russia “for much longer.”
“I think everybody has to get into a room, so to speak, and we have to make a deal, and the deal can be made very fast,” said Trump. “If somebody doesn’t want to make a deal, I think that person won’t be around very long. That person will not be listened to very long.”
