Fox Hosts Rail Against IRS Official Now Running Agency’s Obamacare Office: ‘What Possibly Could Go Wrong?’

The Fox & Friends crew was especially outraged on Friday — upon learning that the IRS official in charge of tax-exempt organizations during the period the agency targeted conservative groups is now heading the office that deals with Obamacare. Accompanying the outrage was a healthy dose of incredulity, as co-host Steve Doocy imagined a hypothetical about how the overlap may play out.

The official in question is Sarah Hall Ingram who was the commissioner of the Tax Exempt/Government Entities Division of the IRS. Earlier this year, she became the director of the agency’s Affordable Care Act Office. “What possibly could go wrong there?” Doocy asked. “Holy cow!”

Gretchen Carlson found it “unbelievable,” as Doocy later went on to point out the “scary” nexus of health care and the IRS.

“Going forward, just imagine: You go in and you’re trying to get a doctor’s appointment, right?” he posited, adding a good dose of fear. “And they go, ‘We see from your tax records’ — how would that possibly be possible? ‘We see from your tax records that you support the Tea Party or conservative groups. You want a doctor’s visit? Three weeks. You want hip replacement? Four years.'”

Ingram “didn’t come to that job on her own,” Carlson added, noting that someone gave her that position despite the biased targeting. “Somebody in power said, ‘Hey, she did such a good job potentially targeting these groups that now we’re going to put her in charge of Obamacare.'”
