Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich Reports on Partisan Critics of Biden’s Easter Transgender Proclamation

Fox News White House reporter Jacqui Heinrich broke down the absurdist criticism being faced by President Joe Biden from partisans over his administration’s handling of Easter Sunday.

At issue? The International Transgender Day of Visibility, which falls on March 31st as it has for the past 15 years, and the coincidence with Easter Sunday. The Biden White House issued a proclamation recognizing the day, which many Republicans then criticized and unfairly portrayed as some weird prioritization of transgenderism over Christianity.

Reporting from a rain-soaked White House lawn preparing for the traditional Easter Egg Roll, Heinrich discussed the dubious controversy surrounding the passing of time, noted that President Biden is a dutifully religious person, and mentioned that the “Transgender Day of Visibility falls on March 31st every year.” Heinrich reported:

Tough conditions out here. It is rainy. We heard some thunder and lightning. And there’s also some controversy surrounding the event this year. Transgender Day of Visibility falls on March 31st every year. This year it coincided with Easter Sunday. And although President Biden, who is Catholic and attends mass every weekend, issued a statement commemorating Easter Sunday, he also issued a statement marking Transgender Day of Visibility. It reads “Today, on Transgender Day visibility I have a simple message to all trans Americans I see you. You are made in the image of God and you are worthy of respect and dignity.”

Republicans sounded off about that, and also about an egg decorating contest for the children of National Guard members. A flier that was promoting the contest said kids submissions must not include any questionable content, including religious symbols, overtly religious themes or partisan political statements. Now, the White House says this restriction has been in place for 47 years, and the American Egg Board told Fox its rules are mandated by the USDA. But this new contest for the National Guard children is was started by the first lady in 2021. So it appears that her office just co-opted the same rules.

Fox News producers could not resist, however, running footage of Republican Senator Marcia Blackburn attacking President Biden, saying, “I think everyone should be insulted by this. The intentional nature of this Easter is a religious holiday. It is such a sacred day where we all meet at the cross.”

“The president also issued a statement marking Easter Sunday as Cesar Chavez Day,” Heinrich added, which also happens to fall every year on March 31st. “So plenty of controversy coming from, or critics, rather a criticism coming from, from critics,” she concluded.
