Fox News Panel Slams Media Coverage ‘Attacking’ Trump on Harvey Response
Fox News’ Cashin’ In this morning piled on the media coverage of President Trump‘s Hurricane Harvey response, particularly all the talk of him not showing more “empathy” during his first visit.
Guest host Lauren Simonetti said the media isn’t giving Trump a fair shake, “accusing him of focusing on himself [and] showing no empathy.”
“The media still attacking President Trump,” she said, “even as America deals with the tragedy in Texas and Louisiana. What do you make of that?”
Rachel Campos-Duffy said people want both competence and authenticity from a President, and “not everybody is a hugger, not everyone is an emoter.”
“I think there were plans in the media,” she continued, “for stories about how he dropped the ball and mishandled his first big crisis. This is a huge flood, a huge natural disaster, and things are going as well as you could hope for.”
Simonetti also questioned why there’s such scrutiny over President Trump’s pledge to donate $1 million to hurricane relief. Juan Williams pointed to what reports uncovered about the President’s charitable giving during the election last year.
Larry Glazer said of the Harvey criticism, “The media can criticize President Trump all they want. It’s not going to put a roof over the heads of thousands of families that have been displaced in Texas.”
