White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest fielded a series of questions Monday from Fox News reporter Kevin Corke about how aware the president was that his first secretary of state was using a personal email address and a private email server.

“While the president was certainly aware of her email address, he was not aware of the system put in place to support it,” Earnest said.

Earnest added that, as far as he was aware, nobody at the White House was aware of Clinton’s private email server — what Earnest described as “the arrangement she had in place.”

All emails on government matters, even those that out of necessity or unusual circumstances were sent or received using personal addresses, would be forwarded or copied to their government email address as a matter of course, he said.

He finally conceded that, yes, the president would do all of his own email communication over government email.
