Fox Panel Erupts After Democrat Brings Up January 6 in Heated DC Crime Debate
The panel of Fox News’ Outnumbered got into it when a guest Democrat brought up January 6 in a debate about crime in Washington, D.C.
On Thursday’s episode, the panel was joined by fellow Fox commentator Marie Harf. One of the first topics of discussion was President Donald Trump’s actions to combat crime in the nation’s capital. The president announced Monday that he would federalize the city’s local police and deploy the National Guard. In the days since, federal officers have been seen roaming the streets of D.C.
Harf was critical of the measures, calling them “performative” and arguing that they’re not actually addressing the crime issue within the city.
She then called out Trump for insisting he cares about crime after pardoning the rioters who attacked officers on Jan. 6. Harf specifically cited the federal government charging a man with felony assault for throwing a sandwich at a federal officer.
“And the third point I would make, as a Washingtonian for many decades,” Harf said, “is that it is very rich to say we are going to charge the sandwich thrower with a felony, when I was there on January 6th and all of those people that assaulted police officers got pardoned — not just the nonviolent ones, not just the ones that went into the Capitol, everyone, including the ones that went after police officers — got pardoned. So don’t tell me we care, that this administration cares about protecting police officers when they did not care about those on January 6.”
When host Emily Compagno attempted to get back to the topic of D.C., Harf insisted that it was relevant, and the two went back and forth:
COMPAGNO: Respectfully, can we just stay–
HARF: But they got pardoned! No, those were police officers, Emily. They got pardoned!
COMPAGNO: I just wanna talk about D.C.
HARF: But that was in D.C.! That was in D.C.! Those were D.C. police officers. Those were D.C. police officers that got assaulted.
